Problem
The millions of vehicle variants have significantly different production requirements (processes at stations, production times) on the production lines.
At the same time, several models are assembled on one line.
This reduces effective capacity utilization due to buffer and idle times.
Goal
Increase capacity utilization in final vehicle assembly by adapting the planning and control process.
Solution
Complevo has developed completely new scheduling algorithms for forming the vehicle sequence, which take into account all processes and process times relevant to a vehicle at all stations instead of the rough “model mix criteria”.
Benefit
With these algorithms, Mercedes-Benz can significantly increase the capacity utilization of the assembly halls on the one hand and reduce the space required in the body buffers on the other.
This means that more variants can be handled with increased capacity utilization.
